House Concerts Posted on January 30, 2007 3:20 PM

| house concerts Hey everyone, I'm booking shows for 2007 and I'm looking for people who would be willing to host house concerts! Send me a message if you're interested! (and thanks to the amazing Jana Holland for the great idea, you can check her out at: http://myspace.com/janaholland) WHAT is a house concert? A house concert is a chance to experience music in a warm and intimate environment. It's when someone opens up their home and invites you into their living room or backyard to share in a performance by one of their favorite musicians. A house concert is also a great social evening of friends and neighbors. Shows are can be held at anytime that suits the host and performer. If the weather is good the concert can be held outside in the backyard. usually, the guests are asked to arrive 1/2 hour before the concert will begin and there is usually a 15-20 min. intermission between sets. 10 guest minimum. This is a private party. This party is NOT for business nor is it a business related activity. It is simply a gatherings of friends and guests to enjoy live acoustic music, fellowship, food (a potluck dessert buffet) and fun. Voluntary contributions (suggested donation of $10 per person) are accepted to pitch in for the cost of the performers. a dish could be set up in the middle of the table with a small sign for donations. 100 percent of all contributions go directly to the performers, although some monies may be passed on to the host, if negociated. A house concerts could have a pot-luck style dessert buffet or appetizers. While it is not required for guests to contribute but is encouraged. The host contributes a limited amount of coffee, drinks and desserts, so there is always something to enjoy. How big the buffet is depends upon how many people contribute. Its up to the host to decide whether to provide any alcohol. Usually its suggest that guest bring wine or beer, so long as people use their own discretion; The kind of environment can be anything from casual to formal. Its all up to you. Usually a host will suggest to the guests what the tone will be through the invitation. Would you like to host a house concert in 2007? Or do you know of someone who would be interested in hosting a private house concert? Let me know! For more detailed information check out this fantastic online resource: http://houseconcerts.org/
