SACRED EMBRACE, Canada, March-2005 KINETIC-The Chains That Bind Us A little over a year ago, Greece's Melodic Death/Thrash act Kinetic sent me their demo/promo CD entitled "Soul, Emotion, Flesh." The three-song CD was highly enjoyable, and it wasn't too long before Sleazy Rider Records (Greece) picked them up; here we have Kinetic's first full-length album, "The Chains that Bind us." As much as I enjoyed the demo, "The Chains that Bind us" is just fucking brilliant. It seems to me that the music is just better, with more melody and emotion—and I can't stop listening to it. Kinetic was formed recently, in 2002, with members previously hailing from Greek underground bands such as Wisdom, Brain Fade and Acid Death. When all the members came together, they developed a sound which forged American and Swedish Death Metal with a tad of Thrash and tons of melody. Lyrics concentrate for the most part on "the horrible side of life," as they put it… meaning a lot of derivatives from... Read entire review »
| PITFATHER, Netherlands, May-2005 KINETIC-The Chains That Bind Us I knew this name sounded familiar, now I remember Kinetic from Greece posting all those newsitems about them on Pitfather. Via our mainoffice I now receive The chains that bind us from what they call themselves: "promising deathmetalband from Greece". After a really scary, intimidating but tasteful intro the song Into the nightmare instantly makes clear to me that these guys DO know how to play and above that: they deserve a better production. I believe they will get that in the future because the talent is there to get there. Especially the bass needs a new mix. The musicians however are good players. As I understood from the bio this band was a bit tired of Deathmetal alone and wanted more. I believe I can say that is exactly what they do. Operating from basecamp DEATHMETAL with countless flirting to progressive, classic metal, power and trash metal. The solo's of guitarists Mamas and Bonikos are... Read entire review »
| BLEEDING FOR METAL, Germany, January-2005 KINETIC-The Chains That Bind Us I have fevered towards the release of few debut CDs as much as towards "The Chains That Bind Us" by Kinetic. After the Greek hopefuls gave me much delight with their demo "Kinetic", it only took a mere year to get the debut recorded. Apart from the already known track of the demo--'The Realms of Nightmare', 'Never Ending Winter' and 'Hate Master/Holy Instict'--six further grenades were conserved on CD. A multimedia section containing the video to 'Never Ending Winter' gives added value for money. There is no need to add something about the quality of the mentioned songs. Especially when the new songs manage to be even slightly better, which resulted in a few pints more on our judgement scale. The axemen seem to have worked hard in the time between the two recordings: the leads are more fluent and the solos fit in even better. Final judgement: Well done. My newcomer of the year 2004! Songs to try out:... Read entire review » |

I am a huge fan of Death, and I can hear the influence of Chuck Schuldiner shine through in your music. The guitar is absolutely great, I love all the little melodies and harmonics thrown in to spice it up. Kinetic is so original, and it's sheer brutality is what sets it apart from the other bands here.
Keep it brutal! Jake Read Review » |
