History/Biography
Itchy Finger Gang started out as three guys who hung out together. One of them, Fred Gillen Jr., was touring as a solo/ acoustic singer/ songwriter and had some songs that really ached to be played with a rock band. He asked his two buddies if they were game and they said yes. The bass player Frank had never played bass before (he was the touring guitarist for singer/ songwriter Anne Heaton, and still is.) Fred loaned him his bass for a few weeks and Frank slept with it (literally.) Johhny, the drummer, was originally a drummer but had been writing and performing his own songs for a while so they borrowed a drum set from their friend the great drummer Andy Ladue, did three rehearsals and four shows, and then Frankie got really busy with his full-time job of playing guitar with Anne (who could blame him really?) So that was it. Johnny moved to Los Angeles, then Vegas, Frankie met a woman in Boston and moved their (when he wasn't on the road with Annie) and Fred went on writing songs and also became (quite happily) a Woody Guthrie jukebox alone and with the band Hope Machine... |
