Clearly, (intheclear) wants you to have a goofy good time By Maisy Fernandez
This probably isn't surprising, but there's a story behind the title of (intheclear)'s new EP, "Dirty Cheese and the Hoodie Thieves."
"(The band members) are all really goofy people," singer Andy Paul said. "And I have these multiple personalities that come out of me sometimes. One day, I put in a set of redneck teeth and suddenly became `Russell Cheese.'"
When Cheese uttered something about "the dirty cheese and the hoodie thieves," an album title was born. "It just made sense," he said.
What also makes sense is that a band is more cohesive and productive when everybody gets along, and that's definitely the case with (intheclear).
"We're best friends," he said.
Sound
A hard rock/alternative/metal band, Intheclear has been compared to "the Deftones meets Perfect Circle meets Taproot," Paul said. Broader musical influences include U2, Joe Satriani and Jeff Buckley.... Read entire review »

It was early Winter 2003 when the first inkling of what was to come first entered the minds of three young guys who just recently disbanded from their musical project Static Divide. Having one's efforts fall apart by disbanding usually flusters the will and determination ... usually. (intheclear) comes home for two shows

(intheclear), a local band that's been touring the midwest for two years, returns home for two shows, Sept. 23 and 28. Andy Paul, center, attended U of L for three semesters and credits the development of his style and range to music professor Daniel Weeks. Weeks said he was "flattered" by the comment.
(intheclear) is a local band straight out of the Louisville music scene. All the members are Louisvillians, and two of them attended the U of L. Now, the group is on its way to becoming a hometown favorite.
In 2003, the band Static Divide had just fired its singer. At the same time, it just so happened that singer Andy Paul was looking for a band.
When all of them came together — with Paul on vocals, Clay Cook on rhythm guitar, John Stemmle on drums and Brandon Sidebottom on lead guitar — (intheclear) was born.
