FELLOW DECAYED metropolites: this is fantastic. Morfiouz has struck another dark chord. The tattered past and bleak future of rusting industrial fortresses have again wholly inspired. The sparseness of "So Alone" enables track number ten to live up to its legend. "The Fallen" pumps like a piston, paying homage to our hometown?s mechanized core. "Fleeting Daydream" is slower and indeed fleeting, seemingly constructed to evoke brief wistful contemplation. "Nightmare" utilizes samples of frantic screams to convey terror. Not sure if they?re lifted from genre voice-overs, home spun shock therapy or other power electronics. Their melodic melisma ends in sync with Latin-tinged percussion. "Dementia" is sonic Dali. Imagine yourself going quickly bananas. Low rumbles threaten like an underground monster, once again prodding the listener to "take a stress pill and think things over." "Goodnight" brings high-pitched echoing strings in synthetic tremolo, floating through your mind in dark-ness.... Read entire review »
| For people who think industrial is like techno ? repetitive and boring ? you?ll be pleasantly surprised. May 2002 Jam Rag-
| This is a very talented electronica project and I believe that Morfiouz will be going places in the near future. I hear influences from all kinds of musical genres, mainly classic and new school industrial groups like Ministry, Skinny Puppy, and Haujobb with a lot of Test Department thrown in. I also hear influences from New Age electronica like Delerium. This CD spans a spectrum of darker moods, from Rage to depression to quite contemplation. This is an interesting technique. It sort of deconstructs the idea of music down to raw elements, almost denying the performance aspect of music altogether. It?s a product of a very talented and somewhat disturbed mind. I found this CD to be quite inspiring, and I can?t wait to hear more from Morfiouz. Check it out, for sure. AV (Jam Rag)
