Ekotren- Destroying the American Dream
Attention all metal fans; here is a band for you. They are a five member band from Cape Coral, Florida called EKOTREN. They have hard hitting vocals and beats. They really show extreme interest in what they are doing in their new EP DESTROYING THE AMERICAN DREAM. Vocalist John knows what he is doing while screaming and singing with great back up from the drums, guitar, bass, and yes the keyboard. I know it sounds a little odd to have a key board player in a metal band, but they make it work. Their songs FALLING, THE LIGHT, and POINT OF VIEW are great songs to start off with. They have some similarities to LINKIN PARK and NONPOINT. John's screaming reminds me of PANTERA and really pulls it off, after he sings. At first, to be honest, I didn't think I would like them, just because of the name, but I enjoy them. I would really enjoy going to a show and see them rock out.

"The Tables Have Turned," an independently released debut album from Cape Coral, Florida's Ekotren is flatout one of metal music's most original and fresh sounding recording's for 2006. In a year that has seen the once darker themed Korn lose all its edge and every old thrash or speed metal group from the 80-90's dusted off and put back on the road and into the studio for more of nothing new, Ekotren has thrown its hat into the ring with a simply smashing collection of seven radio-friendly but extremely, provocative-themed songs. The best thing about what they've got going for them, in my mind, is you won't normally find this kind of depth of artistc impression with such a young band in music.

Ekotren is a name that is well known in the Cape Coral, Florida area but may not be known as well in other parts. One listen to thier soon to be released debut EP "The Tables Have Turned" and there is no doubt they will be a force to be reckoned with in the metal scene of Florida and wherever they take their music. A little over six years ago, Ekotren was formed with an idea of changing what they thought metal music was becoming which was"mediocre music with mundane melodies".
Finally in 2005 after going through 2 drummers and fine tuning their music style, Ekotren rounded their line up with drummer Eric Pottle who brought to the band a heavier sound and raw energy that the band was ultimately looking for. All five members of Ekotren, Guitarist Keith Finnell, Bassist Sean Fiene, DJ/Keyboardist Steve Chin and Vocalist John Sheldon, have come out swinging in 2006 with a 3 song EP that best can be described as in your face hard hitting riffs and vocals that trade...
