History/Biography
His mother wanted a girl, his father didnt want that title, and he didnt want to come out after 32 hours of labor. Upon exiting the whoom, J.B:R.A.P. took a good hard long look around the room and the people in it, his grandmother says, "he started crying and didn't stop until he could move himself!" Did this Multi-Media-Renaissance-EmCee-dancing-Perfomance Artist, somehow know then (prematurely, directly after-birth) what his hometown of East Palo Alto and the World had in store? Many Hard Lessons in An UnFair Unforginving Life with Many Given Blessings!!____________ Today he is humble, active and ornery in the same way, making his home in West Oakland and using his Mixed Media Arts and Social Change (Community Studies) degrees to create and incourage positively artistic and academic environments and safer spaces for the young poeple of our community. ___________ A 2001 graduate of the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) R.A.P. began self-training in a variety of expressive arts ( metal clay sculpture / photography / illustration / graphic design) R.A.P. also became involved in theatrical production, dance and arts events while at UCSC, working with the Expressive Arts Guerrilla Improv Theater Troop ( JUICE). He organized events and curated variety shows incorporating the politics of being young college students of color at UC Campus and performed extensively with Don Williams, African American Theater and Rainbow Troupes. ____________ Presently exhibits work around the SF Bay Area with Naked Souls Artists Alliance (NSAA - www.nakedsouls.com) and Is an upp and comming menber of the D.R.E.A.M. Dance Company (www.destinyarts.org). He is currently developing a number of theatrical productions and continues his development as a producer with a number of projects, including his debut solo effort Mixing str8ight Homo Hop/ HIP HOP and Drum-N-Bass concept CD, Entitled ""J-10 :: CaprICornICopiA.""
